High-speed browsing, better connectivity and quicker call setup
VoLTE stands for "Voice over LTE" and can be described as voice calls in the 4G mobile network. So far, 4G has mostly been used for downloading, streaming and web browsing, but now you can also use it for calling. With VoLTE, you can all over the 4G network, giving you even better coverage!
VoLTE stands for ”Voice over LTE”. In turn, LTE means “Long-Term Evolution” – also known as 4G.
So what does this mean? Essentially, the phone makes voice calls over the 4G network instead of 2G or 3G. This gives you even better call coverage and sound and enables you to surf at high speed during an ongoing call.
With VoLTE, you can continue to surf with your mobile at the highest speed, even during a call.
Are there any indoor areas where you wish the coverage was better? Wi-Fi-calling to the rescue! It gives you better call quality in, for example, a basement or a home office that used to have bad coverage.
If you're out of range for Wi-Fi, the call will reconnect to VoLTE.
A call connects in about 1.5 seconds in the LTE network, compared to 3.5-5 seconds using 2G or 3G. This means that you will hear the ringtone without any delay when calling. Nice, right?
VoLTE will work if you're using the latest software update on your iPhone or Android. For some models, you need to enable VoLTE in the settings. Also, make sure to restart your phone after VoLTE has been activated.
